Revell Monogram F-14B, VF-103 Jolly Rogers

Hi all,
This is my third entry, and I have to tell you guys, I'm still falling in love with the plane over and over
again.. No signs of stopping on my part
I backdated a Revellogram F-14D to a B model, using: Steel Beach B update set, Steel Beach LANTIRN Set,
Steel Beach GE-FOD Covered nozzles, Steel Beach FOD covers. I rescribed the whole plane, that took me
about 2 weeks to accomplish. The decals are from yellowhammer, which are lacking in a few areas. For
one, they fail to mention if the turbine warning
stripe goes around or stops at the inflatable bags. A check with Brian Marbrey confirmed this, and they do
stop at the bags. Brian also helped me with the loadout. Yellowhammer failed to include black walkway
decals, so that had to be painted on (thanks to Brian again for telling me about that)
The NM-parts were quite troublesome as this time I opted to spray them first, coat with future and spray
the rest of the plane. The NM finish came off with the masking tape and had to be retouched up, but the gray
next to the NM areas was painted over NM, so they also lifted with the masking tape..
I had to mask and repaint quite a few times. The tail was also difficult in that finding the
matching yellow to touch up wasn't easy.
Lights were made from toothbrush handles, this is my first time doing it, and i like the look!
Pilots: Using references provided by ARC people, i painted the pilots helmets. I moved the names to the
top of the helmet so that these could be easily seen...
2 inaccuracies about my model: 1. this plane didn't get a HUD till 2004, so this is not accurate here. 2.
a plane wouldn't have pilots ready and FOD covers still on
I loaded here with 2 X aim-9m and 1 JDAM, 1 GBU-12.
