Hasegawa 1/72 F-14D

The kit is the Hasegawa 1/72 F-14D. I used decals from the 1/72 R/M F-14D kit. The decals are superb Cartograph printed examples. I just couldn't resist making this one with the lionhead, even though it wore this scheme only briefly. Built OOB, except for the other kit decals.  Build-up was straigthtforward. No problems other than the normal ones associated with this kit were encountered.

I was trying to go for really dirty on this build, since it seems all Tomcats get dirty once exposed to air. Painting was done with MM enamels, and most of the patchy, dirty appearance was done with the airbrush. More weathering was done with pastel powder. Weapons came from no less than four different sources-three Hase weapons sets and a Fujimi kit for the AIM-54. Custom decals were applied to the AIM-54 to reflect its AIM-54C variation.  2xAIM-9s, 1xAIM-7, 1xLANTIRN pod, and 2x GBU-16s were all from the weapons sets. It was an enjoyable build, but no small feat, these are great kits, but labor intensive. But here are some pics, enjoy!
