found this kit whilst shopping with my fiancée in our local UK Wilkinsons
store. It was for
Upon unpacking the kit I was pleasantly surprised, the moulding seemed fairly crisp and the model had some basic but respectable recessed panel lines. I built the model mostly out of the box, the NACES ejector seats were jazzed up with some seatbelts made from plastic sheet styrene.
The chinpod in the kit was the F-14 A/B type, so I converted it into the double ‘D’ type by cutting the lower section from he upper section, making the camera section out of stretched sprue and then gluing the 3 parts back together with the aid of Milliput model filler.
The painting was the easy bit – the whole model was given a coat of Halfords car primer which served as the base coat, and then the centre of each panel was airbrushed in a lighter shade - Humbrol Matt 64 grey.
The model was finished in TwoBobs VF-31 Tomcatters decals
