This is my first entry for the ScaleAir/ARC Tomcat Group Build. It's a model I built a couple of years ago, but it lay there, unpainted, until I got the nerve, the Group Build being my motive, to finish it, i.e. paint & gloss-coat , decal (although sadly some decals like the "I" buzz number behind the nose radome and some smaller pieces as well (pitot, AoA sensors) have in the mean time vanished), and finish it off...
It represents an experimental F-14D of VX-9, probably stationed at NAS Patuxent River.
A very easy build, I should say, with the only addition of a HUD that was required for the -D variant. Painting was a straightforward gloss black enamel, and only after I had put on the decals, did I paint the flat black anti-glare shield in front of the windshield as well. Weathering was minimal due to the nature of the aircraft as a testbed, and the cool black scheme that I did not want to ruin with weathered looks.
